Isar cycle tour - 300 km -
The Isar cycle tour is a route chock full of spectacular sights. Starting in the Alps, the tour goes through the cosmopolitan city of Munich and on to where the Isar flows into the Danube. Our tour starts at the point where the river Isar first bubbles out of the mountains in Scharnitz (Tyrol). It leads us then on via Mittenwald and Lenggries to Bad Tölz. After spending a well deserved break exploring the historic town centre, our journey continues along the banks of the Isar and through the Pupplinger Au nature reserve, passed Schäftlarn Abbey and on towards Munich. Make sure you plan enough time to explore this beautiful city. Next stop is the Episcopal city of Freising before we traverse the Erdinger Moos with castle Trausnitz, the emblem of the city of Landshut, slowly appearing in the distance. Next it’s on to Landau an der Isar high on a plateau above the river. Leaving Plattling behind us we reach the wide expanse of the Isar delta before arriving at the end of our tour in Deggendorf where the Isar flows into the Danube.
